Departmental Profile (IQAC)
Criterion 1 :- Curricular Aspects
1.1 Curriculum Design and Development
Department of Education is running Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral Programmes. The department ensures effective curriculum delivery through a well-planned and documented process. The department adheres to the academic calendar including for the conduct of Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE). Department integrates crosscutting issues relevant to Professional Ethics, Gender, Human Values, Environment and Sustainability into the Curriculum and continuously update their curricula as per the guidelines of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi. All students of B.A. B.Ed./ B.Sc. B.Ed. undergo in a dense school internship programme while students of M.Ed. conduct a research project/ field survey during their degree. Department running two innovative programmes since 2012 at undergraduate level. The details of the all programmes are as:

1.2 Academic Flexibility
All programmes running in department of education follows globally accepted Choice Based Credit System. Department offers three types of course - Core, Elective, and Foundation. At postgraduate and doctoral level two type of courses has been offered by the department- Core and Elective course. All programmes running in the department of education offers different elective courses as per the guidelines of NCTE & UGC.
1.3 Curriculum Enrichment:
Department integrates cross-cutting issues relevant to Professional Ethics, Gender, Human Values, Environment and Sustainability, and Human Values into the curriculum through the many relevant courses along with Internship and Project Work both UG and PG level.
Criterion 2 :- Teaching-Learning and Evaluation
Department of education serves student of different backgrounds and abilities, through effective teaching-learning experiences. Interactive instructional techniques has been used for engage students in higher order ‘thinking’ and investigation, through the use of interaction, focused group discussions, debates, projects, presentations, practicum, internship and application of ICT resources. Faculty who handle the programmes of study are continuously engaged in their professional development. Vishwavidyalaya admission cell receive a large number of application form in the programme B. A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. (4 Year Integrated Programme) every year from pan India. All seats are being filled against seats reserved for various categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Physically Challenged etc.) as per applicable reservation policy of the Government of India in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. The department assesses the learning levels of the students and organizes special Programmes for advanced learners and slow learners. Programme and course outcomes for all academic programmes offered by the department are stated and displayed on Vishwavidyalaya website and communicated to teachers and students. Department have well equipped laboratories for pedagogy, microteaching, psychology tests and ICT for all UG, PG students/Research.
2.1 Student Enrollment and Profile and 2.2 Catering to Student Diversity
The process of admitting students in all the programmes is through a transparent, well-administered all India entrance examination basis complying with all the norms of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) New Delhi. Apart from the compliance of the NCTE, department put forth its efforts in ensuring equity and wide access having representation of student community from different geographical areas and socio-economic, cultural and educational backgrounds.
2.3 Teaching-Learning Process
Department of education has adopted learner-centered education through appropriate methodologies such as group discussion, interaction, flipped method of learning and field survey. Teachers provide a variety of learning experiences, including individual and collaborative learning. The department designs indigenous curriculum seeking guideline from NCTE and UGC models for the teacher education. An eclectic strategy is espoused using traditional as well as novel innovative teaching learning methods aided with technology, to maintain high benchmarks. The students are provided with mandatory curricular input to enhance employment prospects and attempt for competitive exams. Strategies promote creative divergent thinking and simultaneously focus on the holistic development of the prospective teacher as a trainee. The Department follows the recognized evaluation system: The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) of grading and evaluation at UG, PG and Doctorate level of educational programs.

Criterion 4 :- Infrastructure and Learning Resources
Initially, the department of education was situated situated outside the main Vishwavidyalaya Campus. In 2015, department has shifted in main Vishwavidyalaya campus. The Department has facilities to support physical and recreational requirements of students and staff. Fours traditional classrooms, one store room, office, staff room and separate toilets for male and female students are available. Department have a multipurpose hall of 150 student capacity and a departmental library with text and reference books. There are some out of prints books, manuscripts and special reports are available.
Criterion 5 :- Student Support and Progression
Department facilitates students for scholarships as provided by the Government. Beside these faculty of the department provide personal and career guidance for students future. Most of the undergraduate students pursue their postgraduate programme from the reputed institution of India. Students who are not able to leave the sagar pursues their postgraduaute degree from Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya. The department promotes inclusive practices for social justice and better stakeholder relationships. The department promotes value-based education for inculcating social responsibility and good citizenry amongst its student community through the practice of Community work. The students of Department of Education are being progressed in other higher education institutions, qualified many competitive examinations like NET and CTET etc. and are being placed at many posts of private, state and central Government organizations/institutions.

Criterion 6 :- Governance, Leadership and Management
Vision: Promotion of Educational thoughts, practices and pedagogy of science and arts in context of Indian heritage, society and environment.
Mission: The Mission of the Department of Education is to improve teaching, learning and human development in a diverse, rapidly changing and increasingly technological society. Department of Education prepare reflective, skilled and accountable teachers and teacher educators who lead in their profession.
Criterion 7 :- Institutional Values and Best Practices
In UG and PG programme of the department, some of the courses has tutorial classes where students undertake group discussion, problems faced in lectures room, Mid examinations, lesson planning during practice teaching, in supervision of a course co-ordinator. These measures improve the knowledge in the subject and appropriate planning of any work for achieving the objective.
