About the Sanskrit Department

विभाग का परिचय (Introduction of the Department)

संक्षिप्त इतिहास (Brief history)-
डॉ. हरिसिंह गौर विश्वविद्यालय, सागर का संस्कृत विभाग 1946 में विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना के साथ स्थापित किया गया था। इस विभाग ने संस्कृत अध्ययन के क्षेत्र में बहुत ही सराहनीय पहचान हासिल की है। विश्वविद्यालय की समृद्धि और गरिमा में इस विभाग की बड़ी भूमिका है। यह संस्कृत के विभिन्न आयामों में अपने जबरदस्त और मूल्यवान शोध कार्यों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। विभाग को विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग द्वारा डीआरएस - एसएपी के तहत 1994 से 2006 तक और फिर जुलाई 2007 से 2012 तक संस्कृत में महत्वपूर्ण शोध के लिए अधिकृत किया गया था। इसने डीआरएस-एसएपी के तहत कई बड़ी और छोटी अनुसंधान परियोजनाओं को पूरा किया है और बाद में इन परियोजनाओं को पुस्तक रूप में प्रकाशित किया गया है। इस विभाग की एक विशेष उपलब्धि पांडुलिपि संसाधन केंद्र (एमआरसी) है, जिसमें छह हजार तक पांडुलिपियां संरक्षित हैं। विभाग ने पूर्व छात्रों की एक बड़ी श्रृंखला तैयार की है जो पूरी दुनिया में भारतीय संस्कृति और साहित्य की महानता की पहचान करा रहे हैं।

श्रीमती डॉ वनमाला भावलकर इस विभाग की पहली शिक्षिका थीं। वे विश्वविद्यालय की प्रथम महिला शिक्षिका भी थीं। विभाग ने 150 पीएच.डी. और 06 डी. लिट। विभाग के शिक्षकों और पूर्व छात्रों द्वारा छह राष्ट्रपति पुरस्कार और कई राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार प्राप्त किए किये गये हैं। विभाग के पहले विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. वी.एम. आप्टे। फिर प्रो. रामजी उपाध्याय के बाद, प्रो. राधावल्लभ त्रिपाठी और प्रो. कुसुम भूरिया दत्ता ने विभाग के एचओडी के रूप में महान समर्पण और योगदान दिया है। डॉ आद्यप्रसाद मिश्रा, डॉ विश्वनाथ भट्टाचार्य, डॉ बाल शास्त्री, डॉ जीएल सुथार, प्रो। अच्युतानंद दास, डॉ. आशा सरवटे, डॉ. योगेश्वर एंडेय, पं. यमुनाशंकर शुक्ल ने भी इस विभाग में अच्छे शिक्षक के रूप में सेवा की है। प्रो. ए.पी. त्रिपाठी इस विभाग के वर्तमान प्रमुख हैं। डॉ. नौनिहाल गौतम, डॉ. रामहेत गौतम, डॉ. संजय कुमार, डॉ. शशि कुमार सिंह और डॉ. किरण आर्य इस विभाग में सहायक प्रोफेसर के पदों पर कार्यरत हैं। इस विभाग के कई शोध कार्य और अकादमिक कार्यक्रम हैं।

लक्ष्य (Vision)-

लोक में संस्कृत भाषा एवं साहित्य का विस्तार।
संस्कृतनिष्ठ भारतीय संस्कृति के स्वरूप का उद्घाटन।
संस्कृत साहित्य सम्मत परम्पराओं का पुनरावलोकन एवं उनकी प्रासंगिकता।
वर्तमान में प्रासंगिक परम्पराओं को पाठ्यचर्या के माध्यम से प्रचारित व प्रसारित करना।
मूल्यांकन परक शोध कार्य संपादन।
प्राप्त निष्कर्षों को सामाजिकों के साथ विभिन्न चर्चाओं में प्रस्तुत किया जाता है।

कार्ययोजना (Mission)-

छात्रों में संस्कृत संभाषण के प्रति प्रोत्साहन।
संस्कृत संभाषण पाठ्यक्रम को क्रियाशील बनाये रखना।
संस्कृत लेखन के प्रति जागरुक करना।
कार्यशाला, सेनीनार आदि आयोजित करना।

पत्रिकाएँ-

विभाग नए अनुसंधानकर्ताओं के लिए एक केंद्र के रूप में कार्य कर रहा है जो अपने शोध कार्यों को लेखों के रूप में प्रकाशित करना चाहते हैं। विभाग त्रैमासिक शोध पत्रिकाओं "सागरिका" और "नाट्यम" के रूप में आदर्श विकल्प प्रदान करता है। पहली “सागरिका” 1965 से ISSN 2229-5577 के साथ संस्कृत में और दूसरी “नाट्यम्” 1982 से ISSN 2229-5550 के साथ हिंदी में प्रकाशित हो रही है।

विभाग द्वारा संस्कृत से संबंधित महत्वपूर्ण एवं प्रभावशाली विषयों पर सागरिका के विशेष अंक प्रस्तुत किए जा रहे हैं-

Manuscript Resource Centre (MRC)

MRC Sagar is established in the Department of Sanskrit, Dr. H.S. Gour Vishwavidyalaya Sagar in Sep. 2005 by National Mission for Manuscript New Delhi which is a special project of Indira Gandhi Rastriya Kala Kendra, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Government of India. Prof. Achyutanand Dash was the first co-ordinator of this centre. Prof. Anand Prakash Tripathi co-ordinates MRC Astt.Coordinator Dr. Rishabh Bhardwaj ,cum centre in-charge of this centre, three data base surveyor are also working with him. MRC is situated in separate extension building of Sanskrit Department.

The aim and the objective of the MRC is to surveying, documenting and cataloguing the manuscripts in areas prescribed by the NMM, and to convert information in to electronic format and conduct awareness campaign programme about the manuscript. The catch up area for the survey work for MRC is prescribed for the districts Bhind, Morena, Gwalior, Datiya, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Chhatarpur and Tikamgarh. The centre is maintaining a Manuscript Library comprising about 6000 manuscripts, Catalogue of Manuscripts is in preparation. A Local Advisory Committee for MRC was constituted under the Chairmanship of the Honorable Vice-Chancellor.

Prof. Radhavallabh Tripathi, Professor in this Department was awarded for his D.Litt. on thesis entitled ‘Origin and Development of Theatre in Ancient India. He taught in this university for 43 yrs. During this period of his duty he served the University as HoD, E.C. Member, Chairman of IQAC etc.. He successfully guided 37 research scholars for Ph.D.

He was the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Rastriya Sanskrit Sansthan New Delhi from 14.08.2008 to 13.08.2013. He has served as visiting professor of Sanskrit at Silpakorn University, Bangkok on deputation for ICCR for three years.

He has published 160 books and 215 research papers in Sanskrit, English and Hindi and has completed a number of research projects. He has received more than 40 national and International level awards including. Sahitya Akadami Award for Poetry, Ramkrishan Sanskrit Award of Canada, P.V. Kane Memorial Gold Medal award of Asiatic Society Bombay for his best research work. He has been awarded President Award(2014).
