Wi-Fi Facility in the University Campus

 Introduction: MHRD-Wi-Fi is operating at the university to provide internet access. MHRD-Wi-Fi is provided by RailTel based on an OpEx model at our university, and the service charge for the Wi-Fi service is approximately 96 Lakhs annually

Statistics/Advantages:
• The university released Purchase Order (PO) to RailTel On 10-2-2017, in which the agency was held responsible to undertake only active Wi-Fi work, work involving site survey, design, installation, and maintenance.
• Total approx. 350 access points, 80 switches, one router, a helpdesk, and two onsite technical persons are working on the campus from the agency side.
• The PO was operated on a contract mode based on the OpEx model at 90 rupees per user per month for a total of 6927 users. The term of the said Tender is of 5 years which is expired on 30 Nov. 2022.
• Having completed the contract period with M/s RailTel to provide Wi-Fi service at our University after 30th November 2022, the IT-Committee, FC and EC have approved the extension of the contract for the next six months until 31-May-2023.
